Position Title: Access Control Guard
Location: Rocky Point CFAD (DND Site)
Reports to: Site Supervisor
Hours of Work: Days
Wage: $21.67/hr plus an additional $15 per shift travel allowance
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise the Commissionaire shift and coordinate with the Shift Supervisors for any requirements in the absence of the Manager.
- Ensure all records for non-depot staff entrance (VCR’s, RMP’s, LSA’s) are maintained and kept accurate.
- Ensure all log books pertaining to entries, incidents and informational awareness are kept accurate.
- Maintain known schedules of Contractor activities and Range Control activities.
- Monitor fire and intrusion alarms; notifying the Manager and appropriate Depot staff of problems. Brief the appropriate emergency response agency upon arrival and complete reports.
- Conduct a test of the Depot PA system, emergency phone and duress alarm with the MP dispatcher every Thursday @1100, and perform a radio check with CFAD Fire Hall. Make announcements on the Depot PA system as requested.
- Answer the telephone giving out information on access control and other general information in a pleasant and concise manner.
- Maintain Key authorization lists, ensuring all Key Press locations have updated accurate copies.
- Perform the duties of Key Press custodian for Key Press “B” during normal working hours. Ensure those individuals authorized to draw keys complete the Time In/Out and Date In/Out sections of the register.
- Maintain a level 1 Access Rating.
- Control access numbers to alarm areas, ensuring the proper procedure is followed issuing of access numbers to authorized individuals and notifying the administrator or alternate for the number to be entered appropriately.
- Contact the appropriate OPI whenever a visitor requests access to the Depot, to ensure they are expected, or to obtain authorization for entry.
- Advise #2 Guard Room of persons and vehicles arriving to enter Explosive Area.
- Record the daily activity of all Outer Areas.
- Advise the Security Operations Manager on a weekly basis, of the projected schedules for contractors/ RP Op’s in relation to requirements for Depot access.
- Report to the Security Operations Manager of security incidents, log anomalies or any matters affecting Security operations.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident and have lived in Canada for at least 10 years.
- Must be able to obtain a Level II (Secret) Security Clearance.
- Must have a 404 DND driver's license or willing to obtain.
- Must have completed or willing to complete the Commissionaire Security Officer Course.
- Must be physically fit and able to stand and walk patrols.
- Must be able to work in a range of weather conditions throughout shift.
- Must be fluent in the English language - written, verbal and reading skills.
- Must have a positive attitude with a professional demeanor, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Have excellent attention to detail to fulfill duties and responsibilities and incident report writing.
- Have excellent problem solving skills with an ability to handle emergency situations in a calm manner.
- Have the ability to work independently and make sound decisions in varying situations.
- Have a demonstrated interest and experience in serving the public.
